John Hiatt maps another round of dates
Veteran singer/songwriter John Hiatt has added another round of dates to his itinerary in support of his most recent studio set, last year's "Master of Disaster."
Aside from a solo acoustic turn May 26 in Reno, NV, Hiatt will be backed on the slate by North Mississippi Allstars, the same group that backed him during the "Master of Disaster" recording sessions and also served as his onstage accompaniment during his 2005 tour.
The tour will kick off May 21 in Dana Point, CA. The 36-city trek will take Hiatt from one end of the country to the other and will finish in late July.
Hiatt recorded "Master of Disaster" at Ardent Studios in Memphis with producer Jim Dickinson (Ry Cooder, Big Star, The Replacements).
"Jim Dickinson is a musical shaman," Hiatt said in his online bio. "He not only understands and knows music, he knows and understands the people who make it. It was kind of freaky sometimes, because he would seem to know what we were thinking musically before we played it, then he'd articulate it in a way that made more sense than how we envisioned it."
