Sean "Puffy" Combs Pleads Not Guilty

update: Sean "Puffy" Combs remains free on $10,000 bail after pleading innocent to gun possession charges related to a Dec. 27 shooting in a Manhattan nightclub. Combs was arrested after a gun was found in the sport utility vehicle that carried him, his girlfriend Jennifer Lopez, and two others fleeing the incident at Club NY that left three people wounded.

The driver of the SUV, Combs' bodyguard Anthony Jones, didn't show up for his scheduled arraignment in the same Manhattan courtroom today (2/7). Lopez and the other passenger in the car haven't been charged with crimes in connection with the incident.

According to several published accounts, Combs left the courtroom through a rear exit following his arraignment and refused to comment. Since the arrest, he has on several occasions told reporters that he doesn't own or carry a gun.

Combs is due back in court on Feb. 10, where it will be determined if he will be required to post additional bail. A judge will also set Combs' bail conditions, which will include deciding whether or not the rapper will be allowed to travel to Europe for a tour that is scheduled to open next month.

A grand jury indicted Combs in January on charges of second- and third-degree weapons possession. If convicted of the most serious charge, he could face up to 15 years in prison.

In a related case, Jamal "Shyne" Barrow, a little-known rapper signed to Combs' Bad Boy Entertainment label, entered not guilty pleas today to charges that he shot three people during the nightclub dispute. Barrow, 19, is free on $35,000 bail, according to the Associated Press.
