Black Eyed Peas deliver remix EP as tour launch nears

Two days out from the kick-off of this year's Honda Civic Tour, headliners The Black Eyed Peas have offered up "Renegotiations: The Remix."

The eight-song EP was released today (3/21) exclusively via Apple's iTunes Music Store, and a seven-song version will be available at retail outlets on March 28, according to BEP's website.

On Thursday (3/23), The Black Eyed peas will hit the stage in Fresno, CA, for the first date on the 2006 Honda Civic Tour, an outing that will also feature The Pussycat Dolls. The annual trek has already posted sellouts in Chicago; Boston; New York; Detroit; Phoenix; Reno; Fairfield, CT; and Verona, NY, according to organizers. An April 19 stop in Norfolk, VA, was announced Tuesday (3/21), and an additional stop in an as-yet-unspecified Midwestern city will be unveiled May 3.

Fans will have a chance to meet The Black Eyed Peas during the tour via radio-station contests in "several select markets," according to a press release. Winners will serve as "official Honda Civic Tour correspondents for the station," an will be invited to meet the band and have their picture taken, as well as conduct an on-air report following the show. In addition, the winner's tour diary and photo with the band will be posted on the Honda Civic Tour website.

At each Honda Civic Tour stop, organizers are also planning an interactive feature that will allow fans a chance to display text messages and pictures on video screens.

As part of the partnership between The Black Eyed Peas and Honda, the group designed special custom features--including metallic paint designs, Black Eyed Peas graphics and band-member autographs, a custom embroidered leather interior and a Honda Civic Tour Black Eyed Peas PA system--for a Civic Hybrid that will be displayed at each stop on the tour. The car is featured in the group's "Pump It" music video.

Fans will have an opportunity to win the auto, according to organizers. More information is posted at the tour's website.

The Civic Hybrid can get up to 50 miles per gallon, according to Honda.

The Black Eyed Peas continue to back their latest album, "Monkey Business," which landed in stores last summer and debuted at No. 2 on The Billboard 200 chart. The set helped the group snag Grammy nominations in four categories: Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal ("Don't Lie"), Best Pop Collaboration with Vocals ("Gone Going"), Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group ("Don't Phunk with My Heart") and Best Rap Song ("Don't Phunk with My Heart").

The Pussycat Dolls are hitting the road behind their debut set, "PCD," which surfaced last September.
