Ricki Lee Jones Plans New York Shows
Rickie Lee Jones, who hasn't performed in New York since 1997's tour in support of the album "Ghostyhead," has been booked for a five-show engagement at the downtown cabaret Joe's Pub. A single show is set for Oct. 15, and she will perform two shows each on Oct. 17 and 18.
Jones, who won the 1979 Grammy for best new artist, has toured only sporadically during the course of her career. She recently finished a summer tour of Europe, and has been playing occasional solo dates in Los Angeles. According to Jones' publicist, the shows at Joe's Pub are one-off performances, and will not be part of a larger tour.
The eclectic folk/rock singer -- still best known for her 1979 hit ''Chuck E's In Love'' -- has been working on various projects of late, including writing music for and acting in an independent film. She also plans to release a spoken-word album comprised of self-penned stories next year. She will also perform a song on an upcoming tribute to Woody Guthrie by Rob Wasserman, who has played bass in her band.
