Anthrax fleshes out winter tour itinerary
The classic Anthrax lineup has unveiled the details of its forthcoming tour, which will be the group's first full-fledged headlining trek since its members reunited earlier this year.
The metal pioneers plan to kick off the 13-date run Jan. 6 in Baltimore and will work their way west before capping the jaunt with a Jan. 21 performance in Los Angeles. Details are shown below.
Fellow hard-rockers God Forbid, Sworn Enemy and Manntis will fill the tour's support slots. Tickets for most shows are on sale now.
"I'm itching to get back out on tour," guitarist Scott Ian said in a statement. "The Priest tour was great, but we were opening. Now we get to headline. More songs, more fun, more crushing, more beer, more insanity, more everything!!! This is the reason to get out of the house in freezing cold January. Come and get hot with us. This is the last run for a long time and you don't want to miss it."
Earlier this year, Anthrax members Joey Belladonna (vocals), Frankie Bello (guitar), Charlie Benante (drums), Scott Ian (bass) and Danny Spitz (guitar) regrouped for their first performances together since 1992.
The quintet's first meeting in over 10 years is documented on the DVD "Alive 2," which also features rehearsals and behind-the-scenes footage, as well as performances of 13 songs recorded during the band's June 3 concert at New Jersey's Starland Ballroom. The disc and a companion audio-CD both hit stores in September.
Also in September, the group offered up "Anthrology: No Hit Wonders (1985-1991)," a two-CD collection of remastered, previously released material; and "Anthrology: No Hit Wonders (1985-1991) The Videos," a DVD that houses live footage as well as nine of the group's music videos, including "Bring Tha Noize" featuring Public Enemy.
