Rapper Master P Signs Basketball Contract In Toronto

Rapper/businessman Percy Miller (a.k.a. Master P., who was cut from the NBA's Charlotte Hornets before last season started, announced Thursday (9/16) that he's signed a contract with the Toronto Raptors. He plans to be with the team when NBA training camps open on Oct. 4.

According to a statement released by his No Limit organization, Miller averaged 24 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists during the NBA summer league. He's also played in the Continental Basketball Association, which is a developmental league for the NBA.

Unlike Garth Brooks -- who played for the San Diego Padres during Major League Baseball's spring training this year to help get a charitable foundation off the ground -- Master P is considered to have a legitimate shot at latching on as a professional basketball player.

Whether a decision to join the NBA would be economically wise for Miller is another question. Various published reports have estimated that Miller earned $56 million last year as an entertainer and through his No Limit organization, which includes a record label and a sports management division.

Miller also unleashed his wrestlers, the ''No Limit Soldiers'' on the World Championship Wrestling world earlier this year.
