Aerosmith, Lenny Kravitz roll out 2006 tour dates
Aerosmith and Lenny Kravitz, who are in the midst of a late-fall roadtrip, have unveiled their first batch of 2006 concerts.
The rockers will get the New Year started with a series of January dates that are currently scheduled to launch Jan. 5 in Orlando, and so far focus on Florida, North Carolina and Texas. Tickets for most of the newly announced shows are scheduled to hit the box office on Saturday (11/19), and those for the remaining pair of shows are scheduled to go on sale Dec. 3. Details are included in the itinerary below.
In an effort to give concertgoers a better view of the shows on the current tour, the band devised a stage set-up that features ramps that lead from the main stage into the middle of venue, according to a press release.
Aerosmith is working the road behind its recently released live set, "Rockin' the Joint," which captures the group's January 2002 performance at Las Vegas club The Joint, a 3,000-capacity venue located inside the Hard Rock Hotel. The new set is available in a DualDisc version that includes an audio side containing 11 tracks, and a DVD side featuring the entire album mixed in Enhanced PCM Stereo, as well as video footage of the band performing four songs during the Vegas gig.
Among the tracks on "Rockin' the Joint" is "Seasons of Wither," a cut that first appeared on 1974's "Get Your Wings," but has never turned up on an official live album until now.
"'Seasons of Wither' is one of my all-time favorite Aerosmith songs, but we never used to play it live in the old days," recalls Steven Tyler. "Over the years, it's really become an Aerocult favorite and always gets a major reaction on the rare occasion we drop it into the set list. It means a lot to me to finally give fans a killer live version of this song."
"Rockin' the Joint" follows Aerosmith's most recent studio set, last year's "Honkin' on Bobo," an all-blues album.
Kravitz continues to back his 2004 release, "Baptism."
