The Celtic Woman Tour comes to America
The luck of the Irish—-Irish music fans, that is—-keeps improving as the Celtic Woman Tour returns to the U.S. for a batch of dates that continues through the first half of November.
This Celtic music equivalent of the Lilith Fair, which features Irish vocalists Chloe Agnew, Lisa Kelly, Meav Ni Mhaolchatha, Orla Fallon and Mairead Nesbitt, next stops Nov. 2 in Youngstown, OH. The nine shows that follow will focus primarily on Northeastern cities. The tour, which includes a three-night stand at the Opera House in Boston, wraps up with two Nov. 13 shows in Baltimore.
A complete tour itinerary is listed below.
All five of the Irish vocalists featured on this tour were basically unknown in this country—-at least outside of Irish music circles--just a few months back. That all changed when the TV special "Celtic Woman" debuted on PBS back in March. Since that time, the program has been shown on more than 200 PBS stations. The ensemble's CD, also entitled "Celtic Woman," has been a smash hit that has topped the world music charts. The accompanying DVD has seen similar success.
