Ashlee Simpson rolls out 'I Am Me' tour dates
A made-over Ashlee Simpson hits the road this fall to support her just-released sophomore album, "I Am Me."
Simpson, who played a handful of pre-release shows in September and early October, has so far confirmed a half-dozen November concerts, tickets for most of which will hit the box office this weekend. Details are included in the itinerary below.
Also lined up are two late-October shows, including an Oct. 28 performance at the Stafford Centre in Stafford, TX, which is a make-up date for a Sept. 27 engagement that was canceled due to Hurricane Rita. Tickets for the original performance will be honored at the rescheduled show.
On Tuesday (10/18), Simpson offered up "I Am Me," her follow-up to last year's "Autobiography." The new disc features the cut "Boyfriend," which is streaming at Simpson's website.
The site also features the "Boyfriend" video, as well as detailed instructions on how fans can vote for the video to be included on MTV's "TRL."
Prizes--including Sony PSPs, iPods "filled with Ashlee's favorite songs and her new album," Microsoft X-Boxes, concert tickets and backstage passes, autrographed items and a phonecall from Simpson--will be awarded to fans who vote the most.
The "Boyfriend" video clocked in at No. 3 on TRL for the week ending Oct. 14, according to MTV.com.
The formerly raven-haired Simpson, who now sports a bleach-blonde mane, isn't leaving all of the promotion up to her fans; before launching her upcoming tour, she'll appear as the musical guest on Friday's (10/21) episode of "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno," and on Monday's (10/24) episode of "The Ellen Degeneres Show."
Earlier this month, Simpson--younger sister of fellow pop-star Jessica Simpson--performed on "Saturday Night Live," marking her return to the program one year after an embarrassing lip-synching gaffe that saw her leave the stage in the midst of a live telecast after her pre-recorded vocals were piped through the speakers as she held her microphone at her waist.
