Umphrey's McGee jams into the New Year
Umphrey's McGee will live up to its road-warrior reputation with a lengthy tour that extends into 2006.
The Indiana-based improvisational-rock band will start jamming in Tennessee on Oct. 12 and continue to twirl through the U.S.--and beyond--into January. The trek will see the band perform a pair of shows in Las Vegas as part of the inaugural Vegoose festivities on Oct. 28 and 30, and then hold fort for two shows at New York's Irving Plaza on Nov. 18-19.
The group will close out the year with a two-night New Year's Eve run at Chicago's Aragon Ballroom on Dec. 30 and 31.
Umphrey's McGee will also join the likes of Galactic, Keller Williams, Gomez, Steve Kimock and Karl Denson's Tiny Universe on Jam Cruise 4. The cruise departs on Jan. 7, 2006 from Ft. Lauderdale, FL, and will head to Ocho Rios, Jamaica, Grand Cayman Islands and Cozumel before returning to port Jan. 13.
The band's complete tour itinerary is listed below.
Fans are also invited to attend free screenings of the band's new DVD, "Wrapped Around Chicago – New Year's at the Riv," a two-disc set documenting two late-2004 concerts at Chicago's Riviera Theatre. The DVD set will hit stores Oct. 18. More information about the DVD screenings can be found on the band's website.
The band's most recent studio set was 2004's "Anchor Drops." A single from that album, "In the Kitchen" received Song of the Year honors at April's Jammy Awards ceremony in New York.
