Blues Traveler beefs up tour schedule

Blues Traveler has added a new batch of shows to its recently announced tour, which the band will launch next month in support of its soon-to-be-released album, "¡Bastardos!"

New to the group's schedule are a few late-October shows--including stops in Chicago and Las Vegas--as well as a number of November dates, most of which are set on the West Coast. More dates are expected, as the group plans to hit a total of 40 cities during its upcoming run, according to Vanguard Records.

"¡Bastardos!," Blues Traveler's eighth studio set, is due out Sept. 13. Prior to its release, the band will play a handful of early September shows, and will kick off its full-scale outing later that month. Details are included in the itinerary below.

On Sept. 21, the band is scheduled to appear on "The Howard Stern Show." During the appearance, the group plans to cover a novelty song originally sung by Stern-show regular Beetlejuice; Staind performed its version of the song on Stern's show earlier this month.

Blues Traveler will also hype its new album with a turn on the late-night talk-show circuit, with appearances set for Sept. 14 on NBC's "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno," Sept. 15 on ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live" and a Sept. 16 airing of a Sept. 8 performance taped for NBC's "Last Call with Carson Daly.

Fans unable to catch the band in person will have a chance to see a full concert during a December episode of PBS's "Austin City Limits" live-music series, which the group is scheduled to tape on Sept. 26. A specific airdate has not yet been announced.

"¡Bastardos!" is Blues Traveler's first new studio set since 2003's "Truth Be Told."
