Ex-Soul Coughing singer Mike Doughty rolls out new dates

Former Soul Coughing frontman Mike Doughty has announced a slate of fall concert dates as he continues to support his latest album, "Haughty Melodic," which hit stores in May.

Doughty and his band will kick off the trek with a Sept. 3 appearance in Seattle, part of a bill that also features writers Dave Eggers and Daniel Handler (aka Lemony Snicket). The show, a benefit for the 826 Seattle language arts center, is also part of the Bumbershoot Festival, and is open only to festival ticket holders. See the Bumbershoot website for more information.

Doughty will then head off for a stretch of shows extending into late October, beginning with a Sept. 9 concert in Burlington, VT, and ending Oct. 22 in New York.

"Haughty Melodic" was Doughty's first album recorded with a full band since Soul Coughing's split in 2000. His 2003 solo EP, "Rockity Roll," was recently reissued along with his 2000 acoustic album, "Skittish," as a two-disc set.
