Illness temporarily sidelines Green Day's tour

Citing an unspecified band member's illness, pop-punk veterans Green Day called off Sunday's (8/14) planned gig at Dayton, OH's Nutter Center, as well as Monday's (8/15) scheduled show at Nashville's Gaylord Entertainment Center.

According to the band's label, promoters and the group are working to reschedule the postponed shows, and new dates are expected to surface later this week.

Though a label press release didn't specify which member of the band was ill, Nashville's Tennessean newspaper reported that Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong came down with a bug, and is under doctor's orders to refrain from singing for the next few days.

Barring setbacks, Green Day's North American tour is expected to resume Wednesday night (8/17) in Oklahoma City, OK.

The band launched its latest run through North America Aug. 10 in the Chicago area, and is scheduled to remain on the road into October.
