Mindy McCready hospitalized after apparent suicide try

Country singer Mindy McCready remained hospitalized Tuesday (7/26) in intensive care at an unidentified hospital near Tampa after an apparent suicide attempt.

According to a Pinellas County Sheriff's report, McCready, 28, was found unconscious Friday afternoon (7/22) in the lobby of the Holiday Inn Harborside in Indian Rocks Beach, FL.

William McKnight, who identified himself to authorities as McCready's fiancee, said that he believed she had mixed drugs and alcohol, and that McCready had left a four-page suicide note.

The troubled singer's mother, Gail Inge, told the Fort Myers (FL) News-Press that McCready is "very despondent. Every time she seems to get through something, something else happens."

McCready was charged with identity theft, among other crimes, last week in Arizona, and has faced past charges of driving under the influence and illegally obtaining prescription drugs.

McKnight was charged with attempted murder and aggravated burglary in May after he allegedly broke into McCready's Nashville home and assaulted her. However, the couple was still together, Inge told the News-Press.
