Nada Surf rides wave of new tour dates
Indie rockers Nada Surf have announced a slate of fresh concert appearances as they anticipate the release of their new album in September.
"The Weight is a Gift" will be Nada Surf's fourth full-length release, and their second on the Barsuk label, following 2002's "Let's Go." The new album is due in stores Sept. 13.
The New York City-based guitar-bass-drums trio, which has been stuck with the dreaded "big in Europe" label in the past, appears to be approaching a breakthrough in their own country. The band performed a well-received set at the SXSW Conference in Austin, TX, in March, and played a January set in New York as part of a benefit for victims of last December's Asian tsunami disaster.
Nada Surf has been playing several dates in Spain, and will hit parts of Germany and the U.K. before heading back across the Atlantic. The European itinerary can be found at the band's website.
The October swing will find the group playing small clubs in several large North American cities, and kicks off with an Oct. 4 date in Washington, DC.
