Kelly Clarkson plots massive summer tour

"American Idol" winner Kelly Clarkson, who is nearing the end of a spring tour, will soon return to the road for a lengthy summer run.

After recharging her batteries for most of June, Clarkson will launch her next leg of tour dates on the West Coast at the end of the month, and will remain on the road until at least mid-September. Details are included in the itinerary below.

On June 5, Clarkson will be featured in a segment on the NBC-TV program "Dateline," according to her official website.

Clarkson continues to back her sophomore set, last November's "Breakaway," which features the cuts "Since U Been Gone" and "Behind These Hazel Eyes." The songs sit at Nos. 2 and 3, respectively, on Billboard's latest Pop 100 Airplay chart.

In 2002, Clarkson rose to fame as the winner of Fox-TV's "American Idol" talent search. Later that year, she scored her first No. 1 hit with the song "A Moment Like This," which went on to be 2002's top-selling single.

"Thankful," Clarkson's debut album, surfaced in 2003.
