Coldplay to tackle the summer amphitheater circuit
Coldplay has unveiled the itinerary for nearly two months of summer amphitheater dates behind their forthcoming third album, "X&Y," due June 7.
The Grammy-winning British band launches the North American trek--dubbed the "Twisted Logic Tour"--Aug. 2 in Toronto. Los Angeles-based indie-rockers Rilo Kiley will support.
According to Coldplay's publicist, tickets for nearly all shows will go on sale June 4. Tickets for the tour's Houston-area stop are on sale now, and an on-sale for Dallas is set for June 11.
Registered members of Coldplay's official website will have access to a limited number of online pre-sale tickets beginning May 24; details can be found at the site.
Coldplay will hype the release of "X&Y" with a May 21 appearance on the season finale of "Saturday Night Live." The video for the album's first single, "Speed of Sound," premieres May 24 on MTV2 and Yahoo! Music, and May 25 on MTV.
"X&Y" follows 2002's multi-platinum "A Rush of Blood to the Head." The group recorded and co-produced the new set in the U.K. over the past year with help from co-producers Danton Supple (Morrissey, Elbow) and Ken Nelson (Badly Drawn Boy, Kings of Convenience).
