Clay Aiken works the road this summer

Former "American Idol" contestant Clay Aiken has mapped out month of summer tour dates.

Aiken's roadwork gets underway in late July, and the itinerary so far stretches through the end of August. Details are shown below.

Included on the schedule is a July 29 performance in New York City's Bryant Park as part of the "Good Morning America" concert series.

Fans who join Aiken's official fan club will have access to ticket pre-sales for some shows; details are posted at Aiken's website.

The outing is Aiken's first since a late-2004 holiday run that backed his most recent release, last November's "Merry Christmas with Love." That set followed his 2003 solo debut, "Measure of a Man," which entered The Billboard 200 album chart at No. 1 and spawned 2003's top-selling single, "This Is the Night," as well as the hit "The Way."

Also last November, Aiken served up a memoir titled "Learning to Sing: Hearing the Music in Your Life," which tells how faith was integral to his rise from an aspiring teacher to stardom on "American Idol."

Aiken was the runner-up on the 2003 season of "American Idol"; Ruben Studdard was that year's winner.
