The Donnas (Palo Alto, CA)

After gaining notoriety in the late '90s based more on the fact that they were a teenaged, all-girl rock group than on their music itself, The Donnas are still chugging along. The quartet--singer Brett Anderson, guitarist Allison Robertson, bassist Maya Ford and drummer Torry Castellano (formerly known as Donna A., Donna R., Donna F. and Donna C., respectively)--is backing its sophomore set for Atlantic records, last October's "Gold Medal." --Jon Zahlaway
