John Scofield To Release Third Verve Album In March

Jazz-fusion guitarist John Scofield will release his third Verve album "Bump" on March 14. The disc features members of groove-jazz trio Medeski, Martin and Wood--who backed up Scofield on his last Verve album, "A Go Go"--New York "slacker jazz" group Soul Coughing and New Orleans-style rock 'n' boogie band Deep Banana Blackout.

"Bump" will feature "churning grooves" and a "mellow feel," according to the label. Following Medeski, Martin and Wood's success in playing rock clubs, Scofield is planning a similar tour for the coming year. Dates will be announced in mid-February.
