Kasey Chambers sets U.S. album release, tour

Singer/songwriter Kasey Chambers--whose new album, "Wayward Angel," spent four weeks atop the Australian album charts--is ready to drop the set in North America and back it with a tour.

The album, Chambers' third full-length studio release, will hit North American shelves on Sept. 14, and she'll launch the three-week trek through the U.S. club circuit in November.

"Wayward Angel" features 14 tracks, all of which were recorded in New South Wales on Australia's central coast and produced by Chambers' brother, Nash Chambers. Samples of each song are streaming at her website, as is the music video for album's first single, "Like a River."

"I did write these songs over a fairly long time period and they're about heaps of different subjects, but they've all come together really, really well," Chambers said in her record company biography.

The new album is the follow-up to 2002's "Barricades & Brickwalls." Chambers--a native of the Nullarbor Plain on Australia's southern Central Coast--recorded her debut album, "The Captain," in 1998 and released it in the U.S. in 2000.
