Briefly: Slayer, Detroit Jazz Festival, Sammy Hagar, The Cardboard Vampyres
Slayer issues a new concert DVD titled "Reign in Blood Live: Still Reigning" on Sept. 28, which the band plans to shoot during its Sunday (7/11) show in Augusta, ME.
The show will feature a performance of the band's 1986 album, "Reign in Blood," in its entirety.

Aretha Franklin, Lou Rawls, James Carter and Ramsey Lewis are among the acts booked to perform at this year's Ford Detroit International Jazz Festival.
The free event takes place Sept. 4-6 at Hart Plaza; more information is available at the festival's website.

An Aug. 10 release date has been set for "The Essential Red Collection," a best-of set from on-again, off-again Van Halen frontman Sammy Hagar.
According to a press release, the retrospective features 20 of Hagar's solo tracks--including two previously unreleased songs--in chronological order, spanning 1973 to 1999.

The Cardboard Vampyres, a new supergroup featuring Jerry Cantrell (Alice in Chains), Billy Duffy (The Cult) John Corabi (Ratt, Motley Crue), Chris Wyse (The Cult) and John Howser will debut with a July 16 performance at The Roxy in West Hollywood, CA.
According to a press release, the band will be perform classic tracks from AC/DC, Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, The Stooges, Alice in Chains and The Cult.
