Galactic to tour the U.S. extensively this summer

New Orleans-based progressive funk group Galactic has packed its summer calendar with an ambitious round of touring as it continues to support last year's "Ruckus."

The group's itinerary includes a mix of headlining dates, festival performances and a brief opening stint for the Dave Matthews Band. Things begin with a trio of performances at Tennessee's Bonnaroo Music Festival on Friday, Saturday and Sunday (6/11-13), and subsequent dates stretch well into September. Details are shown below.

The group's plans also include a four-night residency on NBC's "Last Call with Carson Daly"; the shows are scheduled to air on June 15, 16, 18 and 22.

"Ruckus," Galactic's fourth studio album, surfaced last October. Dan the Automator (Dr. Octagon, Gorillaz, Blue Man Group) produced the set. Five cuts from the album are streaming at the sextet's website.

Looking ahead to 2005, Galactic plans to once again begin the New Year with a stretch of shows on board a Bahamas-bound cruise ship that departs from Florida. Dubbed Jam Cruise, the event--now heading into its third year--will feature a number of other jam bands. Details are posted at the cruise's official website.
