Soulfly, Ill Nino link up for summer run
Max Cavalera leads Soulfly on a summer headlining run on the U.S. club circuit, which will feature fellow metal act Ill Nino in the support slot.
The two groups get things started with a July 30 performance in Colorado Springs, CO, and dates are set through mid-August. The bulk of the itinerary so far focuses on the western U.S.
Soulfly is backing its March release, "Prophecy." Frontman Cavalera, who fronted Brazillian metal outfit Sepultura from the mid-'80s until the mid-'90s, produced the set himself.
"I am learning more in the studio and breaking down barriers," Cavalera said in a statement of his role as the album's producer. "I don't want the same boring concepts. Who needs rules to make records? The best records are done without rules. If it comes from your heart, it'll be good."
Joining Cavalera in the studio were former Ill Nino guitarist Mark Rizzo, drummer Joe Nunez, and bassists Dave Ellefson (Megadeth) and Bobby Burns (Primer 55).
Ill Nino issued its latest album, "Confession," last September.
More information about both groups is available at Roadrunner Records' website.
