Gloria Estefan plans first tour in nearly eight years
Gloria Estefan, who hasn't mounted a full-blown tour since the mid-'90s, embarks on a major U.S. outing this summer to support her latest album, "Unwrapped."
The singer has marked off a 28-city tour that launches in Hidalgo, TX, on July 30, and wraps up in her hometown of Miami on Sept. 24. Tickets for her stops in Albany, NY; Chicago; McAllen, TX; and Minneapolis go on sale on Saturday (5/15), according to Clear Channel Entertainment. Additional on-sale dates will be announced in the coming weeks.
Estefan's website will launch a ticket pre-sale on Wednesday (5/12), and a "variety of exclusive concert ticket packages, including on-site party and travel opportunities, will also be made available," according to a press release.
All ticket holders will receive trial access to Estefan's fan club, which she'll soon launch via her website.
"It's been almost eight years since my last tour and I'm looking forward to revisiting places that hold such beautiful memories for me," Estefan said in a statement. "As usual, the fans will get a high energy show with plenty of the hits they've grown to love, but also infused with the music from my new album, 'Unwrapped.'"
Released last September, "Unwrapped" features the singles "I Wish You" and "Hoy."
Estefan rose to fame in the mid-'80s while fronting Miami Sound Machine, and is best known for hits such as "Conga," "Words Get in the Way" and "Rhythm is Gonna Get You." She has sold more than 70 million albums worldwide, according to Clear Channel.
