Keb' Mo' rounds up more dates for summer road trip

Keb' Mo' continues adding shows to the itinerary for his upcoming North American tour, which kicks off later this month.

The bluesman, who launches the outing with a May 22 performance at the Doheny Heritage Music Festival in Dana Point, CA, has filled in many of the blanks in his July schedule, and has added a batch of late-August dates to the run; a lone, late-September show is also set.

The roadwork backs February's "Keep It Simple," a self-produced set for which Keb' Mo' did the bulk of work in his home studio.

"When you work in a commercial studio, you're always conscious of the clock because you run out of time, and time is money," the singer/guitarist said in a statement. "For the first time in my career, I had all the time that I needed to create this record. Working at my home studio gave me a chance to really explore each song and let them evolve naturally."

"Keep It Simple" features the cut "Reily B. King," a tribute to B.B. King that features guest appearances from guitarists Robert Cray and Robben Ford.

Keb' Mo'--whose real name is Kevin Moore--has won two Grammys in the Best Contemporary Blues Album category, first for 1996's "Just Like You," and again for 1998's "Slow Down."

The musician's sound is a mixture of folk, blues, rock and jazz. He has cited Robert Johnson as one of his main influences.
