Keb' Mo' stretches headlining tour deep into summer

Blues musician Keb' Mo', who last month released a new album and hit the road for a supporting tour, has extended the run well into the summer.

Dates for the outing, which previously were confirmed through the end of this month, are now scattered through late August. Additional dates will be added, according to a press release.

Last month, Keb' Mo' offered up "Keep It Simple," his first new album since 2001's "Big Wide Grin." The singer/guitarist recorded the new set in Los Angeles and Nashville, and produced the album by himself.

"I knew exactly what I wanted this album to sound like before I started," he said in a statement. "I was looking over a list of producers for this album with my manager, and I said, 'In the time it would take me to explain the sound in my head to a producer, I could just do it myself.' The instant those words came out of my mouth, I knew what I needed to do."

The new album features the cut "Reily B. King," a tribute to B.B. King that features guest appearances from guitarists Robert Cray and Robben Ford.

Keb' Mo' has two Grammy's in the Best Contemporary Blues Album category; the first came in 1996 for the album "Just Like You," and he repeated his victory with his 1998 release, "Slow Down."

The musician's sound--whose real name is Kevin Moore--blends folk, blues, rock and jazz. He has cited Robert Johnson as one of his main influences.
