Eurythmics Launch Reunion Tour In Europe

Eurythmics Annie Lennox and Dave Stewart, who have reunited to raise money for human rights and environmental charities, opened their first world tour in a decade over the weekend (9/18-9/19) with concerts in Germany and The Netherlands.

Dubbed the ''Peace Tour,'' only two U.S. shows are planned: Nov. 4 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles and Nov. 9 at Madison Square Garden in New York.

Tickets are on sale for the New York show, and a Sept. 26 on sale date has been set for the Los Angeles show, according to a press release issued by Arista Records. All proceeds from the tour will benefit Greenpeace and Amnesty International, and Lennox and Stewart are asking fans to support the two charities in their quest to garner pledges for a million donations by the year 2000.

Arista is slated to release the new Eurythmics album ''Peace'' on Oct. 19. The album has eleven new songs penned by Lennox and Stewart.

Lennox and Stewart have gone their separate ways in recent years, putting Eurytmics on hold. Lennox released two solo albums, ''Diva'' and the Grammy winning ''Medusa.'' Stewart has been working in music and film. He has just completed directing the film ''Honest,'' which is scheduled for release in 2000.
