Toby Keith collects the lion's share of 2003's CMA Awards nominations

With seven nods, self-proclaimed "angry American" Toby Keith leads the pack of nominees for the 37th Annual CMA Awards, and could pick up two additional awards as co-producer.

Keith's pro-war single "Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue (The Angry American)," "Beer For My Horses" (a duet with Willie Nelson), and "Unleashed," the album from which both singles came, lifted Keith's career to a new level over the last year. He won three awards at Country Music Television's 2003 Flameworthy Video Music Awards, and--after receiving eight nominations--took home a single trophy at the Academy of Country Music Awards.

Keith is nominated for top entertainer, male vocalist, album, song, single, music video and vocal event, and could also receive trophies for songs he co-produced in the single and album categories.

Picking up four CMA nominations each were Brooks & Dunn, Johnny Cash and Brad Paisley.

Alan Jackson, Tim McGraw and Darryl Worley each received three nominations, while a pair of nominations apiece went to Kenny Chesney, Dixie Chicks, Martina McBride, Montgomery Gentry, Jo Nichols and Blake Shelton.

The Country Music Association will hand out this year's CMA Awards during a Nov. 5 ceremony at Nashville's Grand Ole Opry House, which will air live on CBS-TV. Winners are determined by the 5,000 professional members of the Country Music Association.

Country singer Vince Gill will host the ceremony for the 12th consecutive year.
