Doug Stone In Stable Condition Following Ultralight Crash
update: A day after his ultralight aircraft went down in the woods near Cooperstown, Tenn., country musician Doug Stone was reported to be in stable condition and good spirits at a nearby hospital. According to his publicist, Stone's injuries included a cracked ankle, a cracked rib, a concussion and a bruised kidney.
Stone was expected to get clearance to leave the hospital by Thursday (3/9).
The engine of Stone's Titan ultralight reportedly failed at between 110 and 120 feet, causing the experimental plane to plunge to the ground. Stone's guitarist, Rusty Van Sickle, saw the plane go down shortly after it took off, and he rushed Stone to the hospital after he was pulled from the plane by a local resident, according to Stone's publicist.
The plane reportedly burst into flames shortly after Stone was pulled from the wreckage.
