Lineup set for second Austin City Limits Festival
More than 100 artists are scheduled to perform on eight stages as part of the Austin City Limits Music Festival, set for Sept. 19-21 at Zilker Park in Austin, Texas.
The lineup for the second annual event touches on a myriad of musical genres including country, pop, rock, jam rock and punk. R.E.M., Nickel Creek, the Shins, Dwight Yoakam, Jason Mraz, Leftover Salmon, Howie Day, Asleep at the Wheel, Hank Williams III, Old 97's, Liz Phair, the Dandy Warhols and the Mavericks are among those slated to play.
The complete list of performers is posted at the festival's website.
According to a press release, more than 75,000 music fans attended the event last year.
"We are very excited to be bringing such an eclectic and diverse number of musicians to Zilker Park this year," Charlie Jones, festival producer for Capital Sports & Entertainment, said in a statement.
A third day has been added to the event, which Jones said would allow it to more than triple the economic impact to the city of Austin.
Three-day passes good for access to all festival areas--including the music stages, Austin City Limits Experience, Taste of Austin Food Court and art market--are priced at $65 each, and will go on sale via the event's website on Saturday (6/14). Hotel and VIP packages are also available.
As the longest running music show on television, Austin City Limits helped define the city as the "live music capital of the world," producers said. Since its debut in 1974, more than 400 artists have performed on the PBS program, including Willie Nelson, Stevie Ray Vaughan and Ray Benson.
