Third Eye Blind follows album release with more road work
Third Eye Blind, currently on a club tour that precedes the May 13 release of its third album, has lined up a new round of dates that stretch into early June.
The new batch of shows commences on May 20, and tickets for a number of dates are now on sale through traditional ticket outlets; for its in-progress, pre-release club outing, the group auctioned off all of the tickets via eBay.
In addition to its headlining shows, Third Eye Blind is set to appear at several radio festivals, including the May 17 DC 101 Chili Cookoff in Washington, D.C., which will also feature performances from 3 Doors Down, Saliva, Cold and others.
Third Eye Blind's "Out of the Vein" features the new single "Blinded (When I See You)," which is streaming at Elektra's Third Eye Blind website. The album is the follow-up to the band's 1999 release, "Blue."
Frontman Stephan Jenkins said in a statement that he and his bandmates "spent the last couple of years soul-searching, getting to the nitty-gritty," as part of the process of creating "Out of the Vein."
That soul-searching apparently included changing the album's original title and release date; initially dubbed "Crystal Baller," the set was expected to hit stores last fall.
Third Eye Blind broke into the spotlight with its self-titled 1997 debut, which spawned the hits "Semi Charmed Life, "Graduate," "How's It Going to Be," "Losing a Whole Year" and "Jumper." The set has sold more than six million copies to date, according to Elektra.
