Café Tacvba Launches U.S. Tour
Mexico City-based rock en espańol envoys Café Tacvba are bringing their music to English-speaking America this month during a 16-city tour in support of the two-CD set "Reves/Yosoy" (Warner Bros.).
The band kicked off its promotional blitz with an appearance on ''Late Night with Conan O'Brien'' on Tuesday (11/2). According to Warner Bros., Café Tacvba's performance marked the first time a rock en espańol act has appeared on late-night television in the United States.
Café Tacvba's North American tour opens Thursday (11/4) with a performance at House Of Blues in Las Vegas. The concert will be recorded, and will be webcast on the House Of Blues website on Nov. 20.
Earlier this year, Café Tacvba was in the U.S. for the Watcha Tour, a brief rock en espańol festival that was packaged by the founders of the Warped Tour.
''Reves/Yosoy'' is the fourth album from the eclectic band, which takes its name from a Mexico City restaurant. The disc titled ''Yosoy'' features songs with vocals, and ''Reves'' contains instrumentals -- some of which feature Kronos Quartet. The band's sound integrates elements that range from traditional Mexican music to electronica and punk rock.
