Britney Spears And LFO Set North American Dates
In yet another high-profile tour aimed squarely at the teen market, multi-platinum Britney Spears and platinum boy-group LFO will team up for a month-long tour of North American arenas beginning in March.
Spears, who walked away with four Billboard Music Awards last week, plans to officially announce her touring plans on MTV Friday, but LFO's camp at Arista Records released the tour itinerary on Tuesday (12/14).
Tickets are currently on sale for the tour's Pensacola, Fla., and Chicago stops. Tickets in several other markets--including Little Rock, Ark., Louisville, Ky., Cincinnati, Baltimore, and Madison, Wis.--are scheduled to go on sale on Saturday (Dec. 18). Other onsale dates are to be announced.
Spears was one of the few acts to consistently draw big crowds to the grandstands on the fair circuit this summer, and she sold out several amphitheaters and large auditoriums as well. Prior to that, she had a stint as the opener on 'N Sync's highly successful tour.
In October, Spears' debut album ''. . .Baby One More Time'' surpassed LeAnn Rimes' ''Blue'' to become the top-selling album ever by a female teen (Spears, a former Mouseketeer, recently celebrated her 18th birthday). At that time, the Recording Industry Association of America certified that seven million copies of the album had been sold, and more than a million additional copies have been sold since then.
Like the Backstreet Boys and 'N Sync, LFO has come to prominence under the watch of manager Lou Pearlman. The group hit the top 10 this summer with the gold single ''Summer Girls.'' The single ''Girl On TV'' entered the top 10 last week.
