Kittie sets up headlining club run
Kittie will follow the Christmas holiday by launching its tour in support of last month's "Oracle," the group's sophomore album.
The outing kicks off in the band's native Canada on Dec. 27, and will feature opening acts No One and Ill Nino, according to Kittie's official website.
Released on Nov. 13, "Oracle" (Artemis) entered the Billboard 200 chart at No. 57. The album has sold about 81,000 copies to date, according to industry sources.
A free download of "Oracle"'s first single, "What I Always Wanted," is available at Artemis Records' official website. The album also features a cover version of Pink Floyd's "Run Like Hell."
"Oracle" is the follow-up to Kittie's 1999, gold-certified debut, "Spit." The latter album spawned the group's breakthrough hits "Brackish" and "Charlotte."
Kittie--which was originally a quartet comprising sisters Morgan (vocals) and Mercedes (drummer) Lander, bassist Talena Atfield and guitarist Fallon Bowman--is now officially a trio following Bowman's sudden and unexplained departure from the group in August. The group's guitar tech, Jeff Phillips, will fill the vacant slot on the upcoming tour, according to the group's publicist.
Last month, Kittie wrapped up its promotional tour behind "Oracle," which comprised in-store appearances and live performances. The group is scheduled to follow its upcoming North American dates with a European jaunt.
