Sum 41 maps out winter tour plans

Pop-punk rockers Sum 41 will spend much of December on the holiday radio festival circuit, and have also set a pair of January headlining dates in Southern California. The band is currently in the midst of a club tour.

The jaunt continues on Friday (11/23), when Sum 41 plays the first of two nights at Dallas' Deep Ellum Live. In December, it spends most of the month joining acts such as POD, Blink-182, Bush and Cake at the holiday concerts.

Sum 41 has contributed songs to several soundtracks and compilations this year. Its first hit, "Fat Lip," will appear on "Now That's What I Call Music! 8" (Virgin), the latest in the series of pop-hit collections. That song--as well as "Makes No Difference," from its 2000 album "Half Hour of Power" (Island)--is part of the music of PlayStation 2's "NHL 2002," and will appear on the soundtrack to the movie "Out Cold," due later this month. Also, "Summer," from "Half Hour of Power," is on the "Music from and Inspired by Tony Hawk Pro Skater 3" soundtrack.

The band recently released "In Too Deep," the second single from its album "All Killer No Filler."
