Guitarist Wes Borland exits Limp Bizkit

Guitarist Wes Borland is no longer a member of Limp Bizkit, according to a group statement.

"Limp Bizkit and Wes Borland have amicably decided to part ways," reads the statement, posted on the band's official website. "Both Limp Bizkit and Borland will continue to pursue their respective musical careers. Both wish each other the best of luck in all future endeavors."

Borland is a founding member of the Jacksonville, Fla., rapcore group. The guitarist is best known for wearing outlandish makeup, costumes and black contact lenses during Limp Bizkit's live performances and in the group's music videos.

In February, Interscope Records--the label for which Bizkit frontman Fred Durst is senior vice-president--released "Duke Lion Fights the Tiger" (Interscope), the debut album from Borland's side-project, BIGdumbFACE. The group, all of whose members don bizarre costumes and body paint for their appearances, toured behind the album in early spring.

Limp Bizkit released three albums with Borland: 1997's "Three Dollar Bill, Y'all," 1999's "Significant Other" and last year's "Chocolate Starfish and the Hotdog Flavored Water." The band plans to issue a remix album of previously released material titled "Limp Remizkit" and a DVD before the end of the year.

The group has been writing material for the follow-up to "Chocolate Starfish," but no release date has been set, and it is not known how Borland's departure will affect the project.
