Briefly: New Creed album, McCartney charity single

"Weathered," the follow-up to Creed's 10 million-plus selling album "Human Clay," will reach stores on Nov. 20, the band announced in a press release. The first single, titled "My Sacrifice, was released to radio on Wednesday (10/10).

Paul McCartney plans to release a new single titled "From a Lover to Friend" on Oct. 29. Proceeds will aid New York firefighters and police officers in the wake of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.

The Recording Industry Association of America on Tuesday (10/9) reached an online music-licensing deal with two major music publishers--the National Music Publishers' Association and the Harry Fox Agency.

"[The] two music publishing organizations control the rights to much of the world's most popular music and lyrics," the Washington Post reported.

According to Reuters, this deal eliminates "a major hurdle to the launch of commercial Internet music services."

FullAudio, an online music service not up and running yet, has announced a licensing deal with Universal Music Publishing, Reuters reported.

The line-up for the Concert for New York City has been expanded to include Backstreet Boys, Paul Shaffer and the CBS Orchestra, Michael J. Fox, Adam Sandler, Mike Myers, Jimmy Fallon, Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Phillippe.

They join the previously announced lineup of Paul McCartney, Mick Jagger, Eric Clapton, Billy Joel, The Who, Bon Jovi, James Taylor, John Mellencamp, Macy Gray, Goo Goo Dolls, Melissa Etheridge, Marc Anthony, Five For Fighting, India.Arie, Jim Carrey, Meg Ryan, Susan Sarandon, David Spade, Julia Stiles, Denis Leary, John Cusack and members of New York sports teams.

The lineup for Australia's Big Day Out festival will include Prodigy, the Crystal Method, New Order, NOFX, Garbage, and Dave Clarke, as well as several acts from Australia and New Zealand. Tickets go on sale on Oct. 19; more details are available on the official Big Day Out website.
