Luther Vandross to mount tour behind new hit album

Luther Vandross is following up his recent successes--a No. 1 song and a Top 10 album--with a North American tour that will kick off in Boston later this month.

Vandross' latest, a self-titled effort that hit stores in June, debuted at No. 6 on the Billboard 200 album chart. The collection, which marks the veteran singer's first release for J Records, has sold more than 700,000 copies in the U.S., according to industry sources.

Spurring sales of "Luther Vandross" is the album's first single, "Take You Out," which recently topped trade publication Radio & Records' Urban AC airplay chart. The song's companion music video is available at Vandross' official website.
