Melissa Etheridge unplugs for summer tour

Melissa Etheridge is kicking off her "live ... and alone" acoustic tour on Aug. 6, the first of three dates scheduled at Washington, D.C.'s Warner Theater.

Her "live ... and alone" tour is exactly that--Etheridge alone on the stage with a guitar. She is visiting midsize venues in most major cities, in many of which she has booked multiple nights.

Etheridge's tour is in support of her forthcoming album "Skin" (Island), due out on July 10. Etheridge's autobiography, "The Truth Is ..." hit stores on June 19.

On July 6, VH1 will air an Etheridge show taped on April 19 at New York's Supper Club. On Friday (6/22), ABC's "20/20" will feature an interview that Etheridge did with Barbara Walters.

Prior to the official start of her tour, Etheridge will perform in Winter Park, Colo., on July 22, the last day of the two-day KBCO World Class Rockfest, with Semisonic, Ozomatli, Robert Bradley's Blackwater Surprise, Sheryl Crow, Joan Osborne, the Radiators and Sonia Dada.
