Lenny Kravitz, John Legend lead Gulf Aid lineup
Lenny Kravitz, John Legend, Mos Def and Ani DiFranco are among the musicians with Lousiana ties who will lend a helping hand during this weekend's Gulf Aid benefit concert in New Orleans.
The concert is set to take place Sunday (5/16) at New Orleans' Mardi Gras World River City, with proceeds going to Gulf Coast fisherman and others who have been affected by the BP oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.
Other performers at the concert, which will take place on two stages overlooking the Mississippi River, include Allen Toussaint, the Preservation Hall Jazz Band, Ivan Neville's Dumpstaphunk, Zachary Richard and The Voice of the Wetlands Allstars, and a star-studded impromptu outfit featuring Tab Benoit, Dr. John, Cyril Neville, George Porter Jr., Waylon Thibodeaux and others.
Tickets for the concert cost $50, and are being sold through Elevate Tickets. More information is available on the event's ticketing website.
The benefit show will also be broadcast live on the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage radio station WWOZ-FM (90.7).
