Maxwell adds Erykah Badu dates to summer tour plans
Maxwell has added dates with Erykah Badu and Melanie Fiona to his forthcoming spring/summer arena jaunt with Jill Scott.
Badu will appear on at least two dates during the trek, including a June 11 appearance in Atlanta and a June 26 show in New York City. The tour, now expanded to 31 cities, is slated to run through a July 15 Baltimore date. Details are shown at right.
Maxwell, who last fall mounted a headlining North American run, continues to support his chart-topping 2009 release, "BLACKsummers'night." The set is billed as the first in a trilogy, the second installment of which--"BlackSUMMERS'night"--is due out this year. "Blacksummers'NIGHT," the final entry in the series, is expected to follow in 2011.
"I don't want to give an exact date," Maxwell told Reuters last week regarding the next installment's release date, "because I don't want to have people wait and have it get pushed back. Then it looks like you're nervous or something's wrong when there's nothing wrong. You're just trying to make sure all the ducks are in a row."
Scott's spring roadtrip with Maxwell will pave the way for this summer's "The Light of the Sun," her first new studio album since 2007's "The Real Thing: Words and Sounds Vol. 3."
