Tift Merritt plans to 'See You' this summer

Alt-country singer/songwriter Tift Merritt has mapped a summer course in support of her forthcoming June release, "See You On The Moon."

The songstress will begin the roadwork June 3 in Charlottesville, VA, followed by another 24 shows spread throughout the East and Midwest. The club and theater trek is currently slated to wrap with an Aug. 13 gig at Lyons, CO's Rocky Mountain Folks Festival. Details are shown at right.

Merritt will unveil her fourth studio set, "See You On The Moon," June 1 via Fantasy Records. Grammy-nominated Tucker Martine produced, recorded and mixed the album, which also features Merritt's longtime bandmates Zeke Hutchins (drums), Jay Brown (bass) and Scott McCall (guitar).

"I wanted to make a really direct record," Merritt explained in recent press release. "I wanted to take everything to a place that was less labored, of more depth. Open space, real strength. There was a certain feeling of inevitability about it. Like I found these songs whole."

"See You On The Moon" is the follow-up to 2008's "Another Country," which reached No. 1 on Billboard's Heatseekers Albums chart.
