Yoko Ono Plastic Ono Band Gallery Spotlight: Oakland, CA - Feb. 23, 2010
San Francisco's 18th annual Noise Pop Festival kicked things off in grand fashion at Oakland's Fox Theater on Tuesday night (2/23), featuring none other than the Yoko Ono Plastic Ono Band.
Last September, the group released "Between My Head And The Sky," its first album since the '70s. The lineup consists of Ono and her son Sean Lennon, along with Yuka Honda, Keigo "Cornelius" Oyamada, Hirotaka "Shimmy" Shimizu, Yuko "mi-gu" Araki and Shahzad Ismaily. Before the music even started on Tuesday night, fans were treated to a brief audio/visual extravaganza about the avant-garde icon, highlighting everything from childhood photos and her years as a budding artist to her peace campaign with husband John Lennon, right through to the aftermath of Lennon's death and footage of her work from recent years.
