Ben Folds confirms new headlining dates
Singer/songwriter/pianist Ben Folds, fresh from his recent judging duties on an NBC talent show, has lined up headlining dates for next month as he continues to support 2008's "Way to Normal."
The trek gets underway March 13 in Myrtle Beach, SC, and will canvas 11 southern US cities, including a March 25 appearance in Raleigh, NC, where Folds--who appeared in front of several symphonies last fall, including the Boston Pops in Boston and the National Symphony Orchestra in Washington, DC--will be backed by the North Carolina Symphony. Details are at right.
Folds continues to support his third solo album, "Way to Normal," which surfaced in 2008 and landed at No. 11 on The Billboard 200. The lead track, "You Don't Know Me" featuring Regina Spektor, made it into the Top 30 at Triple A radio. That song and a couple others from the album are streaming at Folds' MySpace page.
"Way to Normal" was produced by Dennis Herring (Elvis Costello, Modest Mouse), and features Folds with bassist Jared Reynolds and drummer Sam Smith.
Last spring, Folds released "Ben Folds Presents University A Cappella," a compilation of his songs performed by leading college vocal troupes from around the US. In December, Folds appeared as a judge (alongside Nicole Scherzinger and Shawn Stockman) on NBC's a capella competition show, "The Sing Off." The four-part series featured eight a capella groups performing popular tunes and attempting to win a grand prize of $100,000.
