Ringo Starr & His All Starr Band promote 'Y Not'
Former Beatle Ringo Starr will take the 11th incarnation of his All Starr Band on the road this summer behind his new self-produced album, "Y Not."
Starr has tapped guitarist Rick Derringer, bassist Richard Page, guitarist Wally Palmar, keyboardist/saxophonist Edgar Winter, keyboardist Gary Wright and drummer Gregg Bissonette for the road trip, which begins with a two-night stand June 24-25 in Niagara Falls, Ontario. The 18-date outing spans a little more than a month, stopping by theaters across the country through an Aug. 7 performance in Los Angeles. Details are below.
More concerts will be announced in the coming weeks, according to Starr's website.
"Y Not," Starr's 15th studio set, hit shelves earlier this month. The effort's lead single, "Walk With You," features vocals from former Beatles bandmate Paul McCartney; he also played bass on the track "Peace Dream."
"Paul was doing the Grammys, so he came over to the house and was playing bass on 'Peace Dream'," Starr said in a recent statement. "So I played him this other track and Paul ... went to the mike and he just invented that part where he follows on my vocal. That was all Paul McCartney, and there could be nothing better.... He just makes it bigger and he makes it fuller."
The new release also features special guest performances by Joe Walsh, Dave Stewart, Benmont Tench, Don Was, Joss Stone, Ben Harper, Glen Ballard, among others.
