Five for Fighting trek to 'Slice' through US
Singer/songwriter John Ondrasik, better known by his recording and performing name, Five for Fighting, has lined up a late-winter/early spring headlining trek in support of October's "Slice."
The outing kicks off March 1 in Burlington, VT, and continues through an April 7 show in San Diego. About half the dates are currently on sale, with the remainder going on sale next week; additional ticketing details can be found at Five for Fighting's website.
"Slice," the fifth studio set under the Five for Fighting moniker, surfaced in October. The album's lead single, "Chances," is available for download via iTunes and is currently streaming on the singer's MySpace page.
Ondrasik worked with Academy Award-winning composer Steven Schwartz ("Wicked," "Godspell") on the album's soaring title track, hoping to evoke "that moment when we long for a simpler time when life seemed better and the songs were bigger," according to a press release.
"We sat down at a coffee shop to talk about writing together," Ondrasik said in a press release about working with the composer. "I told him about my idea for 'Slice,' and 'American Pie' actually came on the radio. It was surreal. Stephen immediately wrote the first two lines on a napkin, and we were off and running."
"Slice" marks Ondrasik's first release since 2006's "Two Lights," which peaked at No. 8 on The Billboard 200.
