Canadian stars turn out for Haiti relief telethon

The Tragically Hip will perform live on "Canada For Haiti," a one-hour, commercial-free special that will air in Canada tonight at 7:00 p.m. ET/PT, leading into the global "Hope for Haiti Now" benefit telethon.

"Canada For Haiti," a collaborative production between CBC Television, CTV and Global Television, also will feature a performance by K'naan, according to a press release.

The special, which will air live on CBC, CTV, Global Television, MTV, MuchMusic and National Geographic Channel, will feature appearances by Celine Dion, Justin Bieber, Nelly Furtado, Sarah McLachlan, Barenaked Ladies, Simple Plan, David Foster, Chantal Kreviazuk, Raine Maida and Measha Brueggergosman.

Also on board are James Cameron, Michael J. Fox, William Shatner, Pamela Anderson and several others.

The funds raised during the "Canada For Haiti" special will go towards a coalition of Canadian NGOs, including Canadian Red Cross Society, Care Canada, Free the Children, Oxfam Canada, Oxfam Quebec, Plan Canada, Save the Children Canada, UNICEF Canada and World Vision Canada.
