The Cave Singers carve out headlining trek

Indie trio The Cave Singers will head out on the road next month to launch a headlining run in support of the group's latest Matador release, "Welcome Joy."

The folksy Seattle outfit--which features former Pretty Girls Make Graves member Derek Fudesco on guitar, along with vocalist/guitarist Pete Quirk (Hint Hint) and drummer Marty Lund (Cobra High)--kicks off the trek Feb. 23 in Olympia, WA.

The tour stays confined to the band's native Pacific Northwest well into March before heading down the coast, with stops in San Francisco (3/9) and Los Angeles (3/11) before the outing pushes eastward. The run concludes April 3 in Boise, ID. Details are included at right.

"Welcome Joy," The Cave Singers' second studio effort, following 2007's "Invitation Songs," surfaced last summer. The set features guest appearances from Amber Webber and Ashley Webber of Canadian indie-rockers Lightning Dust.

"I think we were in a brighter and more positive place while writing 'Welcome Joy,'" Quirk told the LA Record last fall regarding the differences between the band's new album and its debut. "A lot of the songs were written in the summertime as opposed to the winter--we did write outside a lot more instead [of being] stuck inside the house because of the rain."
