Simon and Garfunkel play New Orleans Jazz Fest

Simon and Garfunkel have been confirmed to headline the first weekend (4/23-25) of the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, according to the event website.

The reunited duo's April 24 performance is likely to be their only American appearance in 2010, according to The New York Times. Fans reportedly had been anticipating some 2010 reunion dates following Garfunkel's appearance with Simon onstage at the Beacon Theater in New York last February.

Jazz Fest's first weekend also will feature Lionel Richie, Anita Baker, Darius Rucker, The Black Crowes, Steel Pulse, Drake, George Clinton and Parliament/Funkadelic, Elvin Bishop, Baaba Maal, Allman Brothers Band, My Morning Jacket, Jonny Lang and Dr. John, among many others.

Pearl Jam is set to headline the second weekend of Jazz Fest (4/29-5/2). Aretha Franklin, Van Morrison, Widespread Panic, The Neville Brothers, B.B. King, Jeff Beck, The Dead Weather, Gipsy Kings, Elvis Costello & the Sugarcanes, Band of Horses, Gov't Mule, Gil Scott Heron and Kenny Wayne Shepherd will be among the multitude of acts performing during the second weekend of the 41st annual event. More information is available at the Jazz Fest website.
